TRANSLATION OF TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION, MANUALS, INSTRUCTIONS, SPECIFICATIONS, ETC.

This field of translation includes translation of technical documents for industrial equipment and tools (technical data sheets, instruction manuals, operation manuals, user manuals, maintenance manuals, repairing manuals and instructions, technical conditions, drawings, sketches, etc.), technical documentation for various products, processes, technologies and so on.

Translation of technical texts can be conditionally divided onto the following most uses categories:

- aviation, aircraft industry, space technology;
- internet technologies;
- machine building, mechanics;
- metallurgy;
- oil & gas industry;
- agriculture;
- building and construction;
- shipbuilding;
- chemistry, biology, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, ecology;
- physics;
- power industry.

Translation of technical texts implicate use of scientific and technological terminology and special dictionary, which means that a translator should be able to understand most technical and engineer aspects, which are described in the text. Accuracy and correctness of translation is especially important as far as, for example, when we are talking about technical documentation for industrial equipment, errors and/or incorrectness of translation can cause breakdown and damage of high-value equipment.

Besides pure translation aspects as a rule the technical documentation is rather extensive and amounts to hundreds and sometimes thousands of pages and at the same time as a general there are strictly limited time frames for translation. We are able to make good quality translation of such documentation in short period of time – in this case translation will be made by a team of professional translators, i.e. translators will work simultaneously.

The second important aspect of this translation is the complexity of translation: technical documentation has a lot of pictures, illustrations, diagrams, drawings, sketches, etc. (i.e. a lot of graphical information) and the final translation should look exactly the same as the original. This requires using exterior specialists in the field of page making and graphic design either requires form a translator to have rather extensive skills and experience in this field. Materials for translation can be submitted on a paper medium as well as on a digital medium in various formats such as pdf, psd, html, cdr, jpg, gif, tif and in format of specific software, such as AutoCAD and QuarkXPress, as well. That's why this type of translation is the most labor-consuming, and accordingly, most expensive, but therewith the most demanded.
